The more you talk to ChatGPT, the better it gets at understanding what you're asking and generating appropriate responses. It's a new way of communicating with technology, one that feels more like talking to a friend than using a traditional computer program. In fact, these last two sentences were written by ChatGPT. So, what is up and coming for ChatGPT? Well, pretty much everything. ChatGPT has the potential to disrupt various industries in a number of ways.

A few ways include:

  • Content creation: generation of unique content such as news articles, product descriptions, and social media posts which ultimately saves time and resources for companies that need to produce content.

In the world of social media, we encounter the online robot influencer known as “lilmiquela”. lilmiquela is a computer-generated influencer and music artist who has gained a significant following on social media having surpassed 2.8 million followers on Instagram. She is a digital character created by Trevor McFedries and Sara DeCou who created Brud and the first ever computer-generated influencer. lilmiquela is known for becoming a model and spokesperson for various brands through sponsorships and advertisements. Despite her digital nature, lilmiquela has become a beloved figure to many people. Her existence online has raised many questions about ethics in the online world. Questions about the nature of reality and the boundaries between the digital and physical world has sparked discussions about the future of technology and its impact on society. For instance, regarding the conversation surrounding mental health, does the image of an AI social media influencer contribute to body image issues and the comparison between young women and a robot? Where is the line drawn to when this type of AI use becomes concerning for the mental health of consumers in society? In addition, many have found concern in the fact that with the paid advertisements that she often does on her social media accounts, does it count as an ethical endorsement as she is not a real person who can test products and is rather endorsing products that companies are paying an agency for. Despite the ethical qualms, new AI influencers have been on the rise with Imma who is Japan’s first virtual influencer and Bermuda who was created by Brud in 2018.

The combination of AI and NFTs is facilitating a world of digital art, gaming, and collectibles. NFTs also known as non-fungible tokens are digital assets that represent real-world objects like art, music, in-game items and videos. For example, AI algorithms can be used to generate unique digital art, or to curate collections of NFTs based on various criteria. AI can also be used to enhance the user experience of buying, selling, and owning NFTs by providing personalized recommendations and suggesting new ways to interact with these digital assets. This new form of trading has significantly changed the way humans have been able to interact with digital assets, and the impact they will have on the art, gaming, and collectible industries will be significant such that there are new ways of investing that are disrupting the space. Artificial intelligence is changing the way of the world with the swift advancement of technology and the way that it is transforming processes in the online space. Some benefits that come with AI is that it is adjusting the world that we live in with computerized idea generation, it is automating processes more easily, and it is allowing for shortcuts in areas where human function is not necessary. However, consequences of AI include the differences of the real and virtual world and this blurred boundary and the younger generation is prone to developing unrealistic expectations of what the world exists like without artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence goes far beyond what was discussed in this article with other forms such as with AI content generators like Jasper, writing copy with Copymatic and creating personalized training videos with Synthesia. Siri might be the most famous AI, however it's only one of seemingly countless AI which we can now interact with. From social media influencers in the form of bots like Lil Miquela and NFTs to chatbots such as ChatGPT, businesses are starting to get creative with their use of Artificial Intelligence. And unless you're an AI enthusiast or work in the industry, these innovations might have flown under your radar.
